Craig Handford

Volleyball Coach Who Trained England Women’s Top Team

Volleyball

Volleyball coach and Olympic speaker, Craig Handford is well known for his influential mentorship of elite teams. He taught both the basics and the finer elements of the sport to male and female athletes, including many Olympic hopefuls. In particular, he set up and led the England women’s development programme which ran from 1997 to 2003 and was held in Loughborough.

Working for Volleyball England, Craig has been involved in a Level 3 Coaching Course which operated from the Kettering Buccleuch Academy and The National Volleyball Centre. The course was designed for any coach looking to supervise a competitive team, who wanted to have a greater tactical and technical understanding of how volleyball operates at the very top level in the 21st century.

Craig Handford has proved to be an extremely popular Olympic speaker because he draws on many years of experience as a top volleyball coach and tutor – not only at junior and senior level clubs but also for the England senior women’s national team. Insightful and passionate, his perspective of sport as a coach is invaluable at events, sharing subjects on teamwork, motivation and leadership.

Any coach who attends Craig’s excellent courses comes away with a vastly improved grasp of how to plan and manage the performance of a team, maximising the chance of success. He created his own philosophy towards coaching that enabled others to progress to the highest level possible in the game of volleyball. As a speaker, Craig’s speeches expand upon his knowledge and teachings in his course.
