Olympic cycling coach, the Premier League’s head of elite performance and now a popular Olympic speaker, Dan Hunt has the skills needed to inspire any kind of audience.
Dan is credited with turning around the fortunes of the Great Britain cycling team which went from a relatively lowly status to becoming world beaters. His explanation of how he coached cyclists to deliver their very best, win countless medals and put British cycling on the map can be applied to any organisation that is looking to improve the performance of its employees.
After graduating with an MSc in Exercise Science, Dan Hunt got a job as assistant sports scientist at the University of Bath then became senior physiologist at the English Institute of Sport. Shortly afterwards, he was called in to help with Great Britain’s women’s endurance team. Before the Olympic speaker got involved, the team was winning nothing. After his input, the team went on to win four Olympic medals in 30 months.
Dan’s role in the Premier League saw him enhancing the youth development programme with the aim of bringing on indigenous talent – not because foreign players are bad for the sport but because the England national football team needs to increase the pool of top quality home-grown players that it can choose from. As ever, Hunt’s record of success speaks for itself.
