Martin Colclough OBE

Specialist In Rehabilitation & Paralympic Sport

Martin CoClough

Former soldier and now popular Olympic speaker Martin Colclough worked with the Help for Heroes charity four years after its formation. His role there was to work on the charity’s Adaptive Sports and Adventurous Training programme and to help veterans recover through the rehabilitative nature of sport.

Also known as the Battle Back programme, this scheme was developed with the Ministry of Defence and in just one year it helped nearly 2,000 veterans and injured or wounded service personnel to engage in adaptive sports. Through sport, the former soldiers have been able to rebuild their confidence and find their independence once more.

Olympic speaker, Martin Colclough knows what difficulties soldiers can experience, having spent 34 years in the army, which he joined when he was just 16. He began in the Parachute Regiment and moved on to the Royal Army Physical Training Corps.

A champion of rehabilitation and Paralympic sport, Colclough has also been the Senior Paralympic Performance Manager at UK Athletics between 2006 and 2007, then went on to play a significant role in the Paralympics GB team at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
