Anna Watkins

Olympic Rowing Champion

Anna Watkins

Olympic rowing champion Anna Watkins is one of the sport’s toughest competitors, having won many titles and the women’s double sculls gold with her ‘perfect combination’ partner Katherine Grainger at the London 2012 Olympics. Since winning that medal, Watkins had two sons and developed a reputation as a top quality Olympic speaker.

The list of achievements by Anna is huge, included being awarded an MBE in 2013. To name just a few, Anna is reigning World Champion in the double scull with Grainger, winning gold in all three World Cups in the 2012 World Cup season and beating Australia to gold in the 2011 World Rowing Championships.

In the 2011 World Cup in Lucerne, the couple also won gold and at the 2011 GB Rowing Team Senior Trials Olympic speaker Anna won the women’s single scull, previously won six times by her partner. Anna and Grainger also won gold at the 2010 World Championships in New Zealand and in the 2010 World Cup series she got two golds in Bled, gold and silver in Munich and two golds in Lucerne.

Four years previously, Anna had won gold at the World Cup in Munich and silver in Lucerne and in 2007 she achieved a bronze at the World Championships in Munich. In the 2008 Olympic Games, Anna won a bronze medal when the three medal winners were separated by just 0.23s.
