With a hop, skip and a jump in 2014, Olympic Speaker Laura Samuel leapt up to third place on the list of all-time British triple jumpers.
Achieving a personal best of 14.09m for the event, Laura won a silver medal at The Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, where she competed for England. This was her second silver, having also come second at the 2010 World Junior Championships in Canada with a jump that also set a new British junior record.
In the same year she also won the senior national triple jump title. And a year before that, Laura won a gold medal in the English School Championships.
As an Olympic speaker, Laura Samuel draws on her experiences as a competitor at the highest level of her chosen sport and talks about why she moved from her first love, which was sprint racing, to the triple jump, which must rank as one of the most unusual athletic disciplines in the world.
Having won her Commonwealth medal aged 25, Laura has a bright future ahead of her and is hoping to add to her medal collection at many of the forthcoming international sporting events. You can be sure that when you book her for any speaking engagement, Samuel will have even more stories to tell of her successful athletics career.
