Medal-winning hurdler and Olympic speaker Gianni Frankis nearly never made it onto the running track – originally he had been a footballer, even playing semi-professionally before he gave it up for his real love, athletics. It’s fair to say that much of Gianni’s success on the track is down to his coach, the former Olympian Tony Jarrett. Gianni says that Tony is the biggest single influence on his career.
Gianni persevered to overcome injuries and setbacks as an athlete, an experience which he expands upon in his speeches. As a school speaker, Gianna effortlessly connects with his audience, inspiring them to value sport like he did as a child.
Among his other medals, Gianni has won a silver in the 110m hurdles at the 2009 Lithuania European Under-23 Championships, a bronze at the 2007 Netherlands European Junior Championships and a bronze at the 2005 Morocco World Youth Championships.
The Olympic speaker has also achieved silvers in the 60m hurdles at the Aviva World Indoor Trials & UK Championships and the BUCS Indoor Championships in 2010, as well as the Aviva European Indoor Trials & UK Championships in 2011.
Other achievements in Gianni’s career include a personal best in the 110m hurdles of 13.47 seconds and 7.67 seconds in the 60m hurdles. He has also made a name for himself as a fascinating Olympic speaker and is extremely popular when speaking at universities and further education colleges. However, despite all his success, Gianni cites winning n a World Youth bronze medal as his proudest moment.
