Biography

Aled Davies MBE is a leading British Paralympian who competes in both F42 Shot Put and F42 Discus. Since taking an interest in Paralympic sports in 2004, Davies has gone from strength to strength and is now one of the world’s best Paralympians. Initially, Davies played rugby and was a strong swimmer, he would compete in swimming events against able-bodied athletes. Although a leading star in his events, Davies has spent a lot of his life facing challenges. Being a natural problem solver, Davies has overcome some of life’s most difficult challenges and continues to be an inspiration.

He turned to throwing events in 2006 and hasn’t looked back since, winning an abundance of gold medals along the way. Since he started to compete in shot put and discus, Davies rise has been truly remarkable, he was won over ten gold medals at the biggest events in the world. He’s won six gold medals at the World Championships, four gold medals at the European Championships and two gold medals at the Paralympic Games. Continuing to develop in his events, Davies has been world number one in both of his events whilst also holding the world record in both too.

One of his most memorable sporting moments came at the 2012 Paralympic Games in London, where Davies set a new European record on his way to winning a gold medal in the F42 Discus event. He also earned a bronze medal in Shot Put during the same Paralympics. At the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games, Aled further showcased his prowess by securing a Paralympic Gold in the F63 Shot Put. Most recently, at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games, Aled added to his impressive achievements by winning a silver medal in the Men's Shot Put F63 event.

Davies continues to inspire thousands across the world with his shining personality and amazing sporting talents. As a leading Paralympian, Davies is often under the spotlight and ensures he remains professional in everything he does. An inspiring figure who can provide motivation to any type of audience.

Although an extremely talented sportsman, Davies has spent a lot of his time as a Paralympics speaker.
