Passionate and confident, she can share her exciting sporting journey first hand, inspiring motivation in corporate and commercial audiences alike. Goldie was an under-11 national table tennis champion, played hockey, netball, and tennis at county level. Whilst she was good at many things, there was one particular sport she excelled at – as a javelin thrower, she found her true calling.
During her time with the sport she set British records, was the captain of the GB women’s under-20 team and became the first British woman to throw over 65m since javelins were redesigned. In 2007, she set the record of 65.05m, and at the Glasgow Grand Prix she beat the European and World Champions of the time with a throw of 63.59m.
Between 2003 and 2007, Goldie won five national titles – she now has 10 British titles to her name – while internationally the Olympic speaker came fourth in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games with an incredible throw of 65.75m. In doing so, she set a new British record. Goldie also came fourth at the 2012 Helsinki European Championships and in the same year, she made another record-breaking throw. This time, a staggering 66.17m at the London Grand Prix Diamond League meeting.
Goldie’s other claim to fame includes carrying the Olympic Torch in Lincolnshire in 2012. Also, the Olympic speaker – who earned the nickname The Suffolk Slinger – has a Masters and First Class Honours degree in Sport and Exercise Science. A woman of many talents, Goldie has quickly become a popular speaker on the circuit.
