Arthur Williams is an exciting broadcaster and presenter hailed by Channel 4 as a future star. He received rave reviews for his coverage of the Paralympic Games 2012 on Channel 4 as well as being named as a ‘breakthrough Brit’ by Bafta and nominated for a Grierson Award for Best Documentary Presenter. In 2013, Arthur made his breakthrough as a factual presenter on Channel 4 using his passion and knowledge of military history, reporting for a two-part series entitled D-Day As It Happened. Arthur followed this up with an acclaimed 60-minute documentary, The Plane That Saved Britain. The film focused on Arthur’s love for the World War II aeroplane, The De Havilland Mosquito.

First becoming a Royal Marine Commando in 2004, he served with Lima Company 42 Commando and 6 Assault Squadron. He also served in Sierra Leone aboard HMS Albion and was trained as a signaler in military communications and data transfer. However, in 2007 a severe car crash resulted in Arthur being paralysed from the waist down. Despite returning to the Royal Marines, he left in 2009 and went about courageously rebuilding his life and his career, setting his sights on work in the media.
In 2009 having trained with world record holder, Micky Bushell, Arthur raced at the Birmingham wheelchair marathon and won the event! He then spent 4 months training with the GB cycling development squad with his friend and Beijing wheelchair athlete Brian Aldis. In searching for new challenges, Arthur returned to his childhood dream of becoming a pilot and he set his sights on gaining a pilot’s licence. Soon after, Arthur had taken his first trial lesson and never looked back. He subsequently gained his private pilot’s licence and a class one medical from the civil aviation authority. Arthur is still flying, a skill that he has since been put to good use for his work in television.
In 2015, Arthur’s Channel 4 project, Flying to the Ends of the Earth was broadcast; a 3-part series from Blast! Films for Channel 4. In it, Arthur flies to some of the world’s smallest and most dangerous landing strips to find out what motivates people to want to live at the ends of the earth and discover how small planes are opening up the world’s most remote and most beautiful wildernesses.
Appearing as a Channel 4 presenter at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics and Rio 2016 Summer Olympics, he has become an icon of the Paralympic movement. He is also a patron for Help for Heroes and works with the aviation charity, Aerobility.
