Biography

Dutch athletics coach, Charles Van Commenée, is probably best known as the coach who drove Team GB to major athletics success at the London 2012 Olympic Games. This Olympic speaker was the performance director of the Dutch Olympic Committee, prior to becoming Head Coach of British athletics between 2008 and 2012. From workshops to discussion panels, this adaptable Olympic speaker comes armed with a visually stimulating presentation. Ideal for corporate audiences, he can inspire an improved workplace culture, teamwork and leadership.

Charles is highly regarded for being Denise Lewis' personal coach, the multiple gold medal-winning star of the heptathlon. Additionally, he coached the 400m sprinter Kelly Sotherton, who won nine gold medals throughout her career as well as five silvers and three bronzes and Huang Zhihong, the Olympic silver medallist and a double world champion shot putter. As an Olympic speaker, Charles is able to call on his vast experience at the very pinnacle of competitive sport, where he enabled and empowered talented athletes to go above and beyond their previous achievements. In his speeches, Charles incorporates this mentorship mindset to inspire self-belief in his audience.

Van Commenée clearly knows how to inspire and motivate and get the very best out of people. In his talks, he shows how teamwork, communication and clear leadership are vital elements in any business or organisation. After the 2012 London Olympic Games, he stepped down as an athletics coach to focus on other business ventures, including motivational speaking. As an expert in managing performance, he encourages his guests to embrace their capabilities and adopt an improved perspective of themselves. With a confident vision, Charles is an invaluable addition to a wide range of events.
