Short-shooting specialist and Olympic speaker Peter Wilson was the youngest competitor in the men’s double trap event at the 2012 London Olympic Games – but it didn’t stop him winning the gold medal, Britain’s first Olympic shooting medal since 2000.
This fantastic achievement followed Peter breaking the world double trap record at a World Cup event – falling just two short of the maximum score – and winning silver at another World Cup event. The previous year he won a silver medal at the 2011 European Championships in the team double trap, coming fourth in the individual event after scoring 191. The Olympic speaker had shown his talents much earlier, becoming the European Junior Champion in 2006.
