Gregg's journey to recovery was anything but easy. Following his double amputation, he faced the challenge of learning to walk with prosthetics and rebuilding his physical strength. His perseverance and positive mindset enabled him to not only regain his fitness but also pursue a new passion in rowing. After first trying the sport at the Invictus Games in 2018, Gregg's rowing career soared. In 2023, he claimed gold medals at both the European Rowing Championships and the World Rowing Cup III, even setting a world-best time in the PR2 category. His relentless determination has made him an iconic figure in adaptive sports.
Off the water, Gregg has also been dedicated to mental health advocacy, working with the NHS as a Mental Health Practitioner for the veteran community. His role as the Veteran Lived Experience Lead for the NHS reflects his commitment to improving mental health services for veterans, reservists, and their families. Gregg's professional background also includes working as a Physical Training Instructor within the NHS and a Programme Executive at The Prince's Trust, where he inspired young people to make positive life choices. His experiences have equipped him with a unique perspective on resilience and recovery, which he shares through his keynote speeches.
Honoured as the Athletes' Athlete of the Year in 2023, Gregg's achievements go beyond his sporting accolades. In 2024, he was appointed Freeman of Foulridge, recognising his contributions to both sports and his community. As a keynote speaker, Gregg draws on his vast experiences, from overcoming personal trauma to achieving elite athletic success, offering insights on mental health, perseverance, and resilience. His powerful story inspires audiences, showing that with the right mindset and determination, even the greatest challenges can be overcome.
