Biography

Aged just three, Kye began riding BMX, introduced to the sport as a family affair with his father being one of the co-founders of Peckham BMX Club. Taking inspiration from his older brother, Tre, Kye became a member of the Great Britain Cycling Team in 2017. His first major victory came in 2018, claiming Silver at the 2018 UEC European BMX Championships. He later went on to claim Gold at the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup in 2019 and placed 5th at the 2019 UCI BMX World Championships after unfortunately being stuck behind a crash. He has also claimed Silver at the 2020 UCI BMX World Cup.

Kye’s journey to the top of his sport has not been without adversity, not long after joining the Team GB cycling team Kye was involved in a serious crash that left him unable to compete for a year and in an induced coma for five days. Despite this misfortune, Kye came back to sport stronger than ever and has since competed in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. After their postponement by a year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Kye competed in Tokyo in 2021 and claimed Olympic Silver in the Men’s BMX Racing.

A prominent figure in the sport of BMX, Kye is the promising future of Team GB BMX. Passionate about diversifying traditional cycling, Kye empowers other young budding cyclists to get into BMX and inspires all with his continual medal-winning victories. Now booked as a speaker for corporate and public events, Kye has audiences in awe with tales of his Olympic success, sharing how he trained for such an event. Whether he be discussing his journey to the top of BMX or the thrill of the danger of his sport, Kye Whyte is a fantastic Olympic speaker to add to your event line-up.
