Biography

Originally competing in short sprint events, Laura Samuel found her attention drawn away from other track and field sports and by 2007 was focusing specifically on the long jump. Already established as a competent sports speaker and athlete Samuel’s dedication to the long jump saw her take home gold in the English School Championships less than a year later.

Samuel’s took part in her first international competition soon after and was the silver medallist at the 2010 World Junior Championships in Athletics, where she set a British junior record. She began her senior career by winning the British triple jump title indoors and outdoors and by the end of 2011 had become one of Britain’s most popular athletic and Olympic speakers. Born in Leicestershire Laura Samuel joined the internationally renowned Loughborough University athletics team when she became a student there and upon graduation began working with former British triple jumper and Olympic speaker Aston Moore.

Samuel’s star has continued to rise in recent years, she ended 2014 unbeaten in indoor competitions and came second in the British Outdoor Championships, the highlight of 2014 however was when Laura Samuel was selected as one of the sports speakers and representatives of the official England team at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games. During the contest Samuel jumped a new personal best mark of 14.09 m and came home with a silver medal.
