Vonn’s Olympic journey began at just 17 years old when she made her debut at the 2002 Winter Olympics. However, her breakthrough moment came in 2007 when she secured two silver medals at the World Championships, quickly establishing herself as a force within competitive skiing. Despite encountering multiple injuries across her career, they shaped her legacy of comeback and courage. Even a torn ACL couldn’t stop her, as she finished third in the 2007 World Cup season and made history by becoming the second American woman to win the overall World Cup title in 2008. She followed that with a gold medal in the downhill at the 2010 Winter Olympics, becoming the first American woman to win that event, and a bronze medal at the 2018 PyeongChang games.
Beyond her Olympic triumphs, Vonn has continued to break boundaries. She studied the Business of Entertainment, Media and Sports at Harvard Business School and contributed as a commentator for NBC during ski events in 2014 and 2021. In 2019, she released her HBO documentary Lindsey Vonn: The Final Season, giving fans a candid look at her journey. That same year, she retired, only to return in 2024 and qualify for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy. Whilst preparing for her final Olympics she made history again as the oldest downhill World Cup winner at age 41. Vonn has also been honoured with numerous awards, including the U.S. Olympic Spirit Award, Laureus World Sportswoman of the Year, and USOC Sportswoman of the Year. She also does extensive work for female progress, founding the Lindsey Vonn Foundation in 2015 to further support and mentor young girls through sport and education.
As an Olympic legend, Lindsey Vonn is a symbol of excellence, perseverance and trailblazing ambition. Her story resonates far beyond the slopes, inspiring audiences from all walks of life to embrace challenges and pursue greatness. Whether addressing Olympic success, high-performance mindset or resilience in the face of adversity, Vonn delivers impactful keynotes that empower and uplift.
