As for his successes, Eddie has held the British ski jumping record of 73.5 metres and the stunt jumping world record when he jumped over 10 cars and six buses. At the peak of his career, he competed in the 1988 Winter Olympics, where he was the first ski jumper to represent Britain.
One rumour is that Eddie often couldn’t see where he was going because his glasses would often steam up! Eddie has also been quoted as saying that he was afraid of jumping. And yet, he still managed to greatly succeed within his discipline, fuelled on by the hopes of the nation. As an Olympic speaker, Eddie reflects upon his experience as an OIympian, explaining to his audience how he overcame criticism and adversity.
An early example of a media celebrity who is adored by the public for his uniquely perfect performances, Eddie Edwards has used that notoriety to forge an impressive career as a TV personality and presenter, ran with the Olympic torch, published a book, recorded songs in Finnish and became a successful Olympic speaker.
