Biography

He won four gold medals in total and his first came in the 2006 Commonwealth Games when he won the Pommel Horse event. He won a further gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in 2014 when the English team won the team gold. Throughout the competition, Smith and his team showed elite levels of teamwork. Smith is considered an expert in teamwork and often reflects on its importance in order to achieve goals and maximise success.

The Olympic speaker has won four medals over three Olympic Games; at the 2012 London Olympic Games he won a silver on the pommel horse and a team bronze while at the 2008 games in Beijing he came third on the pommel horse. He also won a silver in the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. Smith has won two gold medals at the European Championships, both coming in Montpellier.

He has an additional five silver medals at the tournament to go alongside his five medals at the World Championships. He took part in Strictly Come Dancing in 2012 and alongside his professional partner Flavia Cacace, won the show. He returned in 2014 for the Christmas special and once again, he won the show scoring a perfect ten from all judges.

Now spending lots of his time in the media, Louis Smith MBE is one of gymnastics leading media personalities. Regularly seen on television shows, Smith is a favourite amongst the British public due to his warming and humorous personality.
