Nile Wilson is a British gymnast that is currently one of Great Britain’s leading gymnasts. Still, very early in his career, Wilson has already won a number of gold medals at some of the world’s biggest events. He won his first gold medal at a renowned event when two gold medals at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. Aged just 18 at the time, Wilson won the Horizontal bar competition and the team all-around competition.
When he is speaking at events, he often discusses being under the spotlight, something Wilson has had to cope with from such an early age. Early on his career, Wilson broke a number of records and became the first British gymnast ever to win five gold medals at the European Junior Gymnastics Championships. Wilson participated in his first Olympic Games in 2016 and won a bronze medal in the Horizontal Bar event making him the first British gymnast to win a medal in this particular event. Wilson won his first World Championship medal in 2015, he won a silver medal in the team all-around competition alongside some of Britain’s leading gymnasts.
His career continues to go from strength to strength and Wilson has already tallied an impressive 11 medals at the world’s biggest events. He has nine medals at the Commonwealth Games and is aiming for more in the future. An Olympic gold medal is what Wilson will be striving for in the upcoming years but it will take extreme dedication along the way.
