Biography

He first took part in wheelchair rugby in the same month that he was released from the hospital. His potential was instantly recognised by the Great Britain coach and he was awarded a place in the squad just one year later. Within one year of being in the squad, Brown played a pivotal role in the nations winning gold in the European Championships. He often reflects on his rapid burst on to the international scene and how he had to deal with pressure from an early stage in his sporting career.

Steve narrowly missed selection for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games but was honoured to lead the Olympic and Paralympic Parade of the Heroes through London on the team’s return. He captained Great Britain in the next Olympics in his home country, England. This was an immensely proud moment for Brown and one that he will cherish for the rest of his life.

As well as wheelchair basketball, Brown has recently spent a lot of time in the media and in particular on television. He is an award-winning presenter renowned for his bubbly personality. He has spent time presenting for the BBC and has presented shows such as The One Show. Brown has gained exceptional presenting skills which ensure he provides compelling after dinner speeches. When at events, Brown is known to discuss the importance of teamwork and leadership.
